The Vale led, led by Nenad Amodaj and Nico Stuurman, is developing a software program for microscope instrumentation control and image acquisition. Micro-Manager is an Open Source software for imaging and control of automated microscopes on multiple platforms (Windows, Mac and Linux). Together with popular image processing application ImageJ (former NIH Image), Micro-Manager provides a comprehensive imaging solution – with feature set comparable to commercially available ones.
Micro-Manager software has simple and clean user interface, works within ImageJ
and is good for beginners. Advanced microscopists will also find it attractive
because it allows unrestricted modifications and extensions of the functionality
and device support, by various parties, both commercial and non-commercial.
Micro-Manager is supported by a Sandler Foundation grant and by the world-wide
Open Source community.
For more information on Micro-Manager and/or to obtain the software, please
